Fave places 2012: summertime in New Orleans, LA USA (part one)

New Orleans - drive thru art galleryIts one of my favourite cities, but for the first time, I got to experience what its like in the summer. Its hot and humid, with an occasional thunderstorm and some flooding to make life a little different.

I explored this city by bike, and found I liked the view from the two wheels – life seemed to be in a perfect mellow mood.

So as I went from Algiers Point to the French Quarter, Faubourg Marigny and Bywater by bike, and then further afield in the Central Business District, Garden District and Uptown by car, I began to understand more about the city – from drive-thru art galleries and graffiti to more music venues and endless options for tasty food.

And thanks to the endless list of summer festivals and spontaneous parties, this city proved again why it so fun.
