Local eats at Jean Talon Market

Although I’m a market fiend whenever I travel, I somehow didn’t get to the Jean Talon Market in Montreal until this most recent visit.

And of course, it did not disappoint – despite the late growing season because of the cool, rainy spring in Quebec – local growers had populated the market with many tasty options, including the first crop of strawberries.

Every table had something to lure my lens and almost my wallet – fresh fruit and vegetables, warm out of the oven bread and of course, unique Quebec products, like the famous maple syrup.

And there was plenty of other worthy items to purchase for the every day cook or the gourmand:

And like many markets the friendly welcome to any shopper to peruse, ask questions and hopefully buy something:
