Visiting Muscle Car City

It’s all about General Motors at Muscle Car City – and for this traveller, it was all about which car would make the perfect roadtrip vehicle – perhaps one from this pristine collection of Pontiac GTOs:

Florida - Muscle Car City GTO

Located in Punta Gorda on Florida’s west coast, Muscle Car City is the private collection of Rick Treworgy, with over 200 vintage cars ranging from the 1920s and well known names such as Chevelle, El Camino, Impala, Oldsmobile and Camaros (another option for roadtripping?):

I overheard visitors remembering their cars of old, and those owned by family members or friends. It was a trip down memory lane with the cars, which are in pristine condition and thanks to the collection, show off each year’s unique style from the wide variety of GM brands. I can easily picture myself in one of these beauties for a roadtrip:

All these cars can still be driven on the roads of Florida and the owner occasionally does drive them – a dream for fans of muscle cars to have so many options as a driver. And if you really want to be like the owner, there are a few selected cars for sale.

But I have to admit, my favourite part of the museum? The bikes! I had one of these beauties as a kid:

How I wish I could own this bike now! I’d surely attract attention and probably some ridicule navigating the streets of Toronto – but would I care? Not with a cool ride like this.
