From Mesa to Yuma…

I covered a lot of ground last week in Arizona – from Phoenix to Mesa to Yuma to Tucson to Florence to Mesa to Gilbert to Mesa to Scottsdale.

It was a whirl of desert landscapes, learning about the local cuisine and what’s in season and getting a dose of wild west southwestern culture, like Gila Bend, AZ:

Visiting Yuma, with its former territorial prison a beautiful state park which has the Colorado River flowing through it:

And learning about the infamous Bandit Queen aka Canadian Pearl Hart:

And even got to get up close and personal on the Colorado River, by canoe:

and most of all – experienced the unique craziness of Lutes Casino – a family owned business in Yuma. It’s a former casino, current diner and a whole lot of fun (and known for its potato tacos):

On the first leg of the journey, I got a dose of the outdoors and the wild – and the next leg? Its all about seasonal and local – as you’ll see tomorrow….
