Farm to table – ice cream!

Visiting Superstition Farms in Mesa was a fun afternoon of seeing and learning about dairy cattle:

Lots of happy cows and lots of learning about the process of making milk and milk products. There was also an interlude to meet some other residents:

But really, it was all about ice cream:

And although it wasn’t a hot summer day, having freshly-made ice cream, made from milk from happy cows, well it led to this big bowl:

And although we were all fixated on tasting this sweet treat – it was also a good lesson in eating local and knowing where your food comes from – and understanding how much goes into this bowl – its more than just cream, sugar, ice – its a lot of hard work.
